چکیده
Objective: This study investigated the effect of heparinized saline flushed catheter on preventing catheter-related thrombosis (CRT) among cancer patients received peripherally inserted central (PICC) for chemotherapy. Background: CRT is a common and serious complication when using PICC, which one most commonly used vascular access devices drug infusion, intravenous nutrition, Methods: prospective, paralled-group trial enrolled 300 chemotherapy who were randomly assigned to intervention (n=150) or control group. Besides basic procedure PICC combined with IC- ECG B-mode ultrasound imaging, catheters in group, while normal ones Hemorheology tests tip sites measurements outcome evaluation, incidences other complications. In additions, thromboelastogram (TEG) measure thrombus elastic before week after PICC. Results: 148 group 138 finished follow-ups, indicating longer duration more completion better positioning Intervention subjects showed significant lower complications (phlebitis, blockage, prolapse, local infection) (P <.05). additons, our proposed method may reduce incidence via significantly improving blood circulation Conclusion: Heparinized increase quality risk complications, circulation. Conclusions: can be easily introduced prolong placement improve

Pericardial Effusion in an Extreme Low Birth Weight Neonate with Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter
Background: Pericardial effusion and cardiac tamponade are the rare complications of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC insertion) in extreme low birth weight infants. In this regard, paying attention to these complications is of utmost importance, because they can result in infant death. Case report: The case of our infant is a sa...

متن کاملThe incidence and risk factors of peripherally inserted central catheter-related infection among cancer patients
BACKGROUND As the use of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) increased in chemotherapy, the identification of complications and risk factors became essential to prevent patient harm. But little is known about PICC-related infection and risk factors among patients with cancer. Our study was to identify the prevalence, patterns, and risk factors of catheter-related infections associat...
متن کاملPeripherally inserted central catheter thrombosis incidence and risk factors in cancer patients: a double-center prospective investigation
BACKGROUND Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) are widely used in chemotherapy, but the reported PICC thrombosis incidence varies greatly, and risks of PICC thrombosis are not well defined. This study was to investigate the incidence and risk factors of PICC-related upper extremity vein thrombosis in cancer patients. METHODS This was a prospective study conducted in two tertiary r...
متن کاملRisk of catheter-related bloodstream infection with peripherally inserted central venous catheters used in hospitalized patients.
BACKGROUND Peripherally inserted central venous catheters (PICCs) are now widely used for intermediate and long-term access in current-day health care, especially in the inpatient setting, where they are increasingly supplanting conventional central venous catheters (CVCs) placed percutaneously into the internal jugular, subclavian, or femoral veins. Data on the risk of PICC-related bloodstream...
